BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC):

Trinidad and Tobago's Women's National Team kicked off their 2025/26 Concacaf W Qualifiers campaign in emphatic fashion, delivering a commanding 5-0 victory over Barbados here at the Kensington Oval on Monday.

The visitors set the tone early, as veteran striker Kennya Cordner broke the deadlock in the 12th minute with a poacher's finish from close range.

The visitors then turned a narrow lead into a rout with a breathtaking seven-minute blitz late in the second half.

The floodgates opened when Kedie Johnson unleashed a spectacular long-range strike in the 77th minute, doubling the advantage.

The onslaught continued as Ariana Borneo expertly curled a third from outside the box in the 82nd minute. Mere seconds later, Aaliyah Prince capitalised on a swift counter-attack, slotting home to the bottom corner in the 83rd minute.

Lorall Romain put the final exclamation point on the performance deep into stoppage time, expertly bending a right-footed free kick into the bottom-left corner to seal a comprehensive 5-0 result.

The statement victory immediately places Trinidad and Tobago at the summit of Group F with three points. The qualifiers resume in 2026, with Barbados set to host El Salvador in late February, while Trinidad and Tobago will face Honduras in March.

In other group action, Puerto Rico dominated St Lucia 7-0, Nicaragua overcame Guyana 3-1, and Guatemala secured a 4-1 win against Bermuda.
