An attorney-at-law was taken into police custody after an explosive outburst in the St Catherine Parish Court on Friday, which saw the presiding judge order her removal from the courtroom for her conduct.

Attorney Denniese Walker was detained after repeatedly interrupting court proceedings while appearing in a matter involving her client.

The incident reportedly began after Walker mentioned a case and was informed that it had been referred to mediation.

According to reports, Walker objected, arguing that the complainant was absent and insisting the matter, which involved siblings, should proceed immediately.

"How must mediation be and di complainant not here and is a brother and sister matter, so call di complainant, as I want it dealt with now," she reportedly told the court.

Acting Senior Parish Court Judge Janelle Nelson-Gayle cautioned Walker to compose herself, warning that her conduct was bordering on contempt of court.

Walker allegedly continued speaking and instructed a court officer to summon the complainant.

"Officer, call di complainant now please, call her," she reportedly said.

The judge again instructed Walker to refrain from her behaviour and ordered her to leave the courtroom.

After exiting, Walker reportedly returned and declared:

"I am paid to represent him."

The judge then directed police officers to take the attorney into custody to allow her to "cool off."

Police restrained Walker outside the courtroom before escorting her back inside and then towards the holding cells.

While being escorted away, she allegedly shouted:

"God send down fire come burn down dis."

The judge subsequently ruled that another attorney should represent the client, indicating that she would not continue hearing submissions from Walker.

It was indicated in court that Walker would be expected to apologise for her conduct as an officer of the court.
