Cop dies in motorcycle crash in St Catherine
Grief have gripped the St Catherine North police division following the tragic death of Constable Shanki Gordon, a cop colleagues say brought life to every room he entered.
Gordon, who was attached to the St Catherine North Operational Team, died following a motorcycle crash in Ewarton, St Catherine, early Monday morning.
Reports are that about 2:00 a.m. on June 1, 2026, the constable was travelling on his motorcycle when he was involved in a crash.
He suffered severe injuries and was rushed to the Linstead Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 2:38 a.m.
His sudden passing has left fellow officers devastated.
Senior Superintendent of Police Hopton Nicholson described Gordon as a fearless and hardworking officer who always went above and beyond the call of duty.
“He was a very energetic individual who would go beyond the call of duty and get the job done. He was also a jovial person who could create laughter on any subject. Trust me he is sadly missed,” Nicholson said.
Several of Gordon’s colleagues also shared emotional tributes, remembering him as a dedicated policeman and a vibrant team member whose presence lit up the division.
Investigations into the fatal crash are ongoing.
