Google Assistant now has the power to read bedtime stories to children with a brand new update called Apps For Families.

The tech company has unveiled the latest change to its voice-controlled assistant, which will allow the machine to recite fairy tales to youngsters, as well as provide "experiences" including games, nursery rhymes and soothing sounds.

Dupont de Rivaltz, global partner manager at Google, said: "We are excited to bring Apps for Families to the UK."

A TV presenter has sensationally claimed that the concept of God was created by "misunderstood" alien technology, which early human civilisations mistakenly used religion to justify.

Conspiracy theorist Giorgio Tsoukalos who is known for his Ancient Alien shows on The History Channel - gave his thoughts at an annual unidentified flying object conference in California.

Speaking at the Contact in the Desert talk, he argued: "The reason that we're in the c**p that we're in today is because of misunderstood technology. The reason we have religion today is because of misunderstood visits of extraterrestrials."

He claimed that evidence for this could be found in art and relics from ancient Egypt and even accused archaeologists of "dismissing" his apparent evidence.

A man who regularly plays the lottery with the same numbers at the same place in eastern France has beaten huge odds, winning the My Million lottery twice in 18 months.

The Le Parisien newspaper says mathematicians it queried calculated the double win at 1 chance in 16 trillion.

Radio France Bleu on Thursday quoted state lottery La Francaise des Jeux as saying the winner, who wants to remain anonymous, won €1.18 million on May 18 after winning the same amount in November 2016.

An employee at cafE La Havane in Evian-les-Bains told the radio that the winner "hasn't changed at all".

My Million is part of EuroMillions. Lady luck was also in Australia last month. A Sydney man won twice in a week, according to NSW Lotteries.

LISBON, Maine (AP):

An escape-artist emu known as 'The Bird' that got loose has been returned to its animal sanctuary in Maine.

Lisbon police, an animal control officer and much of the town searched throughout the day Thursday for the five-foot four-inch emu that escaped from its sanctuary. A spokeswoman for the sanctuary says the 19-year-old bird was captured near a neighbour's house.

The Bangor Daily News reports that someone caring for The Bird was moving it to its summer residence when the flightless, ostrich-like animal bolted.

Police had said the 100-pound emu was somewhere in the woods. Animal officials say it attempted another escape a decade ago, but was caught.
